Adam Stubbings profile picture

Adam Stubbings set up Compass Financial in May 2009, having worked as a financial adviser in Stockport for 3 years and previously London for ten years. He started the business with 40 clients and £4 million of clients' money under advice, before going on to acquire the portfolios of six retiring financial advisers, bringing client numbers to over 750 with £130 million of clients’ money under advice. In September 2018 Adam acquired Aqua Financial from retiring principals Shaun and Lorrain Dunne adding a further 750 clients and an additional £120 million of clients’ money under advice.

Educated at TS Indefatigable, a Naval College on Anglesey where he was Head Boy, Adam later moved to London, where he met Katy, his now wife. Katy came from Ruthin, and this is where they have settled with their two daughters. Both girls are students at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay and are enjoying all the opportunities there including participation in sports teams.

Earlier in Adam’s working life, he took a four year career break to pursue his passion for Scuba Diving at a professional level where he taught diving to Instructor Trainer level. He also made underwater documentaries for companies such as Channel 4 and the Discovery Channel. In 2013and twice in 2015 Adam competed in a full distance Ironman competition and in 2014 crossed Baffin Island as a member of an Arctic expedition team.

Adam also has a passion for horology. He is fascinated by the detail and workmanship involved in designing and creating top quality watches and has been known to advise clients and friends on their watch purchases!

Claire Lee profile picture

Claire has worked at Aqua for 16 years and is known by many of our clients. She is an experienced Financial Adviser and holds Chartered status. She has always liked to improve her qualifications and knowledge so that she can do the best job she can for her clients.

Claire’s expertise is in the area of pensions and she looks after a number of our group plans and gives advice (and is referred to by other Advisers) on defined benefit transfers.

Originally from Bristol, Claire has now been in the Stockport area for 30 years and lives locally with her partner Mike and youngest son who is at college. Previous to joining Aqua Claire’s career was at a bank where she held a regional management role as well as in compliance for a large company where she checked defined benefit transfer pensions advice given.

She has a busy home life. She is involved in her local Church where she helps out whenever she can and is the Treasurer. She frequents the cinema at least weekly, goes to concerts and loves to watch all sport.

Keely Oldham profile picture

Keely has over 5 years’ experience in the industry, she joined Aqua in September 2017 as a ‘Senior Financial Planning Assistant’ to assist with Defined Benefit transfers, Keely then went on to take the office managers role. She is currently studying for her Diploma in Financial Services and aims to be fully qualified by February 2018.

Keely grew up in Middleton, Manchester with her Mum, Dad and little brother. She moved to Australia 9 years ago, and lived there for a year and half and decided to come home. Keely’s family still lives there, she tries to get over once a year and facetime’s weekly.

Keely got into Financial Services when she returned home from Australia, Her step father has his own company and needed and administrator, she then went onto helping him run the office. Keely moved on for the experience/opportunity of working for a larger firm.

Outside of work, Keely like’s going to the gym and taking Yoga classes. She enjoys going on walks with her partner and dog and spending time with friends and family.

Christopher Cowley profile picture

Chris joined Compass Group in May 2018 as a Financial Advisor having worked for Halifax, Bank of Scotland, prior to it becoming the Lloyds Banking Group for the last 10 years. During his time with the Lloyds group, Chris amassed experience in the Private Banking, Bancassurance and Retail sectors of the business.

Chris has an LIBF Level 4 Diploma & has also gained an Equity Release Qualification (CeRER) & Mortgage Qualification (CeMAP 1-3) & Long Term Care Insurance (CeLTCI); he is aiming to become a Chartered Adviser within 2019.

Chris resides in the village of Wistaston, near to the town of Nantwich with his fiancé & their 2 children; he spends his spare time running, swimming & generally being outdoors with his family and their dog. He loves taking part in charity events such as Born Survivor (like Tough Mudder).

Peter Dyson profile picture

Educated at Lymm Grammar School, Peter joined Aqua in October 2015, after having spent 34 years with the NatWest Bank, 20 of which was with their Financial Planning division. During that time Peter was an adviser and later an Area Development Manager being responsible for recruiting and developing trainees through to achieving competent status.

After opting for a voluntary severance/early retirement package in 2012 Peter followed this with over two years working for a local charity helping with transport for the elderly and disabled.

After missing the challenges of the financial sector, Peter then joined Aqua initially performing administrative duties, but later switching over to a Paraplanning role.

Married to his wife, Christine, Peter enjoys compiling and hosting general knowledge quizzes and loves setting the ‘killer questions’ to challenge even the most dedicated quizzer. A lifelong Manchester City fan he is now relishing the fact that he is no longer one of the ‘noisy neighbours’ that the other team in the city used to call them.

Eden Campbell profile picture

Eden joined Aqua on the 8th December 2014. Eden started here just after finishing High School as a business administrator apprentice.

She sat the FA2 exam and passed last year. She is currently revising for my R02 exam which will be going towards her Financial Planning Diploma which she is eager to achieve within the next year.

Eden enjoys going to the gym and extreme sports like skydiving.

Eden has lived in Stockport most of her life and has recently moved out of her family home with her best friend.

Alasdair Owens profile picture

Alasdair moved to Manchester two years ago and worked in the hospitality industry, he was a supervisor for 12 months. Although the hospitality industry was interesting, he was always looking for a new challenge in finance.

Alasdair joined Aqua Financial Services in September 2018 after graduating from Leeds Beckett University with 2:1 in Politics. He joined Aqua as a Trainee Paraplanner and has recently applied for R01, he hopes to take the exam this year or early next. On completion he will then look at taking the other RO exams to achieve the ‘Diploma in Financial Planning’.

Outside of work Alasdair enjoys playing golf, going to the gym and supporting Liverpool FC.

Lizzie joined Aqua in April 2018 as a temporary trainee-administrator. Before she knew it she was offered a full-time role as a Financial Administrator.

Having previously worked in Childcare for 6 years, achieving her Level 3 in the Young People and Children’s workforce, she felt it was time for a career change where she could really challenge herself and advance in the Financial Services Industry.

She has lived in Stockport almost her whole life and in the last year has moved to the Tameside area. Outside of work, Lizzie enjoys keeping fit at the gym, socialising with friends and spending time with her very large family!

Educated at Cheadle Hulme High School Christine followed on at Stockport College achieving RSA. 1, 2 and 3 in typing and audio.

Following this Chris performed secretarial/PA duties for Galt Toys in Cheadle for 4 years. She followed this by joining the claims division with General Accident in Manchester city centre (later to become Norwich Union, then Aviva) often deputising for her team manager.

Following closure of the Manchester Office, Christine joined Aqua in January 2018 performing general administrative duties and typing.

Living in Hazel Grove, Christine is married to Peter and, away from work, enjoys keeping fit, especially attending local Zumba sessions. In addition to this she also shares her husband’s passion for Manchester City.

Owen Campbell profile picture

Owen started working at Aqua in June 2017, he worked part time around college times and holidays. He was doing sport at collage and decided he’d like to climb the Financial Services ladder.

Owen was offered a full-time position at Aqua Financial Services in September 2018 as a trainee Administrator and is looking to complete his exams in Financial Services with CII over the next few years.

As well as this Owen will gain valuable knowledge by working hands on and in a team within the Aqua Financial office.

Owen likes to stay active by going to the gym and playing sports like football.
